One new software program that handles the task quite well is ‘TransferMyVideo’ by Avantquest.

TransferMyVideo provides high speed, high quality video conversion for all popular video formats (AVI, MPEG, WMV, DivX, 3GP, RM, MOV, and more.) and portable devices such as iPod®, iPhone®, Microsoft® Zune®, PSP, MP4 players & smart-phones. TransferMy Video comes pre-installed with support for over 600 phones, consoles, & players.

In Action:

After a one-click download and quick install, the software starts you off with a device configuration screen, which lets you find your model device from a list of over 40 manufacturers.

Next, TransferMyVideo will automatically bring up a list of video to select from. Just pick the video you want and click ‘convert’.

TransferMyVideo “Advance Mode” also offers some basic editing functions, i.e. brightness, contrast, etc.

Note: if TransferMyVideo needs additional software, it will find and download it automatically from the internet.

And once you have converted your video file, you can plug in your device and click ‘transfer’ to move it over. Thats all there is to it.

Review:

Pros: The program is easy to install and use and seemed to work fine on my Vista machine. Not a lot of extra controls to add confusion to the process.

Cons: Not many. The editing functions were limited, but this is designed more as a converter, not an editor.
